The BSC TEXTAROSSA team belongs to the Department of Computer Architecture (Departament d’Arquitectura de Computadors, DAC) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), created in 1987. The UPC is a public institution of research and higher education in the fields of engineering, architecture, sciences and technology, and one of the leading technical universities in Europe.
The DAC is specialized in the knowledge area of “Computer Architecture and Technology”. DAC is hence responsible for educating and carrying out research in topics related to this knowledge area; for instance, Computer Architecture, Computer Networks and Operating Systems.

The DAC is aslo responsible for graduate and master courses in programs offered by several engineering schools: the Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB), l’Escola Tècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB), l’Escola d’Enginyeria de Telecomunació i Aeroespacial de Castelldefels (EETAC) and l’Escola Politècnica Superior d’Enginyeria de Vilanova i la Geltrú (EPSEVG). In addition, the DAC offers a doctoral program in “Computer Architecture”.

The research carried out by DAC is organized in several research groups involved in national and international competitive research projects. DAC’s scientific production is published in top conferences and journals. DAC members have been involved in the creation of research centers (CEPBA, CCABA, CIRI, BSC-CNS, BSSAD -Compaq-, Intel Labs Barcelona).
